Free Favre">Free Favre

The man is pissing on his legacy as the “Greatest QB of all time.” This “I’m Retired.” — “I’m Back.” routine was old last season, and now we’re in for the sequel. Contrary to his interview, the Packers aren’t being dishonest — they’re watching out for YOU and THEMSELVES.

You want to keep feeling bad about your relationship with your ex-boss? How about your neighbors in Janesville, WI? Why don’t you ask them about “not feeling welcome” to work at GM?

I’m asking for some perspective. I love Favre, but he retired. We wished him well. We’re waiting to see what Aaron Rogers is going to do for the Packers. I’m saying this as a fan of Green Bay and Favre — dude, you’re done now. Get your DirecTV NFL Season Pass, pop a vicodin and enjoy the games, man. Honestly, do you really want to go to Tampa Bay?

Let me put it this way: you’re on the cover of Madden 2009 — which means if you actually come back for any team, you’ll have a season-ending injury by Week 6.

  1. Is he really on the cover for Madden ’09? That’s definitely bad news.

He should just retire gracefully. I don’t feel like going through the retirement crap again.

  2. Yesterday on the Charlie Sykes show Favre was the hot topic. A man from Chicago called in and said, “we’ll take him. Even in a wheelchair he’s better than anybody we have got”.

  3. I’m just here to note that it’s impossible to be a fan of both Chicago and Green Bay.

I guess it’s time I set the record straight. I cheer for Chicago because I live here (much like I cheered for Pittsburgh when I lived in Johnstown). I will ALWAYS be a fan of Green Bay.

There’s just too much beer, cheddar and sausage in me.

  5. Favre is my all-time favorite football player. For that reason alone, I hope he comes back and plays well, and I hope it’s only for the Pack. Any other team and it wouldn’t be quite right, and I don’t think his heart would be in it.

As for his wavering, yeah, it pisses me off a little with this flip-flopping on retirement, but, hell, he’s Brett Favre, and if the guy wants to play, let him play. He’s earned the right. Athletes retire and unretire ALL the time, in every sport.

  6. This is the same cr-p as Michael Jordan. Jordan is doing what he needs to do. SELLING UNDERWEAR! Enjoy retirement, Brent. Maybe you can sell cars.
