We’re so cool… not really.">We’re so cool… not really.
Suzy, Logan and I attended a one-year-old’s birthday party on Saturday at a local indoor playground for toddlers. We had our requisite pizza, cupcakes and organic juice boxes from 4 – 6pm and we left with everyone else.
Suzy had a party at Dee’s to go to, so needing a bottle of wine, we made a quick stop to the “Treasure Island” gourmet grocery next door to the play area. We both were kinda in awe of the place since we didn’t even know if its existence — it’s a huge mecca of international and gourmet foods with a selection that rivals Sendyk’s in Milwaukee or Whole Foods/Wild Oats.
We ran into Graham and Mickie, who were also at the party. We also ran into Val and Jenn’s upstair neighbors (also at the party). In fact, everyone but Val and Jenn (whose daughter, Biz, was the birthday girl) who attended the party apparently showed up at Treasure Island for the after-party.
So this is what hipster parents do, I guess. We’re foodies. Suzy and I, in pre-Logan days, would be stoked to check out the new club. Now, we don’t even get psyched to check out new restaurants — we’re checking out the new grocery stores.
Parenting is sweet.

You’re scaring me away from the idea of children, dude. I’m allergic to grocery stores… Ha ha.

That surprises me, because everytime I’ve been to your house, your cabinets have been flush with foodstuffs. Oh wait, yeah… that’s my house I’m thinking about.

Very true.
